Recently at Two Twelve...

Over the past week, we've had some fun classes and events here at Two Twelve! Take a look at what's been going on around these parts…

We hosted Meet the Author featuring Claudia Whitsitt last Friday. Claudia read from her latest mystery novel, Internal Issues, and gave her guests the inside scoop about what goes into being a published author.

On Monday, Donna McCauley taught Knit a Wire Bracelet, where students created a beautiful bracelet  by knitting wire and beads together. Donna is offering the class again on Wednesday, June 18, from 6 to 8pm. Call us at (734)944-2787 to register! The bracelets turned out fantastic!

On Wednesday, Jean Canavan taught the final installment of this summer's Go Big With Watercolor II, where students continued their large-scale watercolor paintings from the first class. Their watercolors are all so vivid and unique, and the students seemed to really reach outside of their watercolor comfort zone. Hopefully we'll be seeing some of these beautiful watercolors in our Adult Student Show at Two Twelve during July and August. And look out for more offerings of this class in the Fall.

Kelsey Keyes also taught a fun and unique class this week! Kelsey's Steam Punk Jewelry student created an awesome pendant in the Steam Punk style (think 19th-century scientific romance novels of Jules Verne, H.G. Wells, and Mary Shelley). Kelsey had a plethora of fun gears, clock dials, metal links, rivets, propellers and more, perfect for making Steam Punk jewelry that suites your individual style. Kelsey will be offering more Steam Punk Jewelry classes in the future, and at Saline District Library as well. Don't miss this fun opportunity!

Wedding Challenge

Today was Wedding Challenge Day for our Cake Eaters. Artists were "challenged" to create an art piece based on the theme "Wedding." Take a look at the lovely pieces below! The challenge is a Viewer's Choice format, so the works will be on display at Two Twelve Arts Center for the next two weeks. Stop by to see the works up close and vote for your favorite. Marvelous job--as always--Cake Eaters artists!

Clay Date with Cathy: Gnome Home!

The first offering of Clay Date with Cathy in our current brochure was Gnome Home. Led by our pottery studio manger, Cathy Harmon, students have been busy in the pottery studio creating customized gnome homes that feature a wood grained exterior, conical roof, and other woodsy whimsical features. During the first class, students focused on building their gnome homes, and during the second class they painted their homes with glaze. Can't wait to see the finished results! They are looking great!

And here are photos from the second session:

If Clay Date with Cathy sounds like fun, be sure to check out the additional offerings in our brochure here. Fairy Doors will take place on June 3 and 10, from 1-3:30pm, and Toad Abode will take place on August 5 and 12, from 1-3:30pm. Call (734)944-2787 to register.

Wolf Kahn Inspired Landscape

Our Landscape Series began this Tuesday with Jean Canavan's Wolf Kahn Inspired Landscape class. During this 3-hour class, students explored the style and color use of the contemporary landscape painter, Wolf Kahn. Using Kahn's painting style as inspiration, each student worked in a different palette and their landscapes turned out unique and beautiful. Take a look below!

Our Landscape Series will run throughout the summer. We are offering a variety of classes, each focusing on a different medium and/or style of landscape. Students will have the opportunity to enter their work in the Landscape Series show scheduled for November. Check out our brochure, here, to see our Landscape Series offerings.
