Jean Canavan's recents works are on display at Brewed Awakenings in Saline. During the month of September, Jean participated in a challenge to create 30 Paintings in 30 Days. Her show at Brewed Awakenings is a collection of most of these watercolors, and a few more are on display at our Holiday Sale. Look for more art to be displayed at Brewed Awakenings in 2015, and be sure to also stop by Carrigan Café in Saline to see other exhibits sponsored by the café and Two Twelve. It's been a busy fall here at Two Twelve Arts Center. In addition to a busy class schedule, we've hosted Art on the Runway, multiple art exhibits at the arts center and around town, and this past weekend held a play at Riverside Arts Center Theater. With the holiday season quickly approaching (and our Holiday Sale!), I thought it was the perfect time to catch the blog world up on some of our recent happenings...
Here are some recent class photos, beginning with Dreamscapes, taught by Rob Kinsey.
Stop by our Landscape Series Show during the month of November to see some Dreamscapes and many other Landscapes by local artists.
A couple of photos from Jean Canavan's class, Painting Big...
Look at the adorable birdhouses that were created in Jennifer Lupton's class!
The students in Carolyn Weins' recent Pastel Workshop captured some great landscapes.
This Friday, November 14, from 7-9pm is our Landscape Series Show Artists' Reception. Stop by to see a wide variety of landscapes created in, or inspired by, our 2014 Landscape Series classes.
During the months of November and December, "Moments" is on display at Carrigan Café in Saline. This exhibit features the work of multiple photographers, centered around the idea of "capturing a moment." Make sure to check it out!
And if you are curious about the play, WOMAN NUDE, written by Heather LaDuke and Lisa Mercer, be sure to read about it in this Saline Post article.

This past Friday, we held our 2nd Annual Art on the Runway. This event featured a wearable art show, with unique and handmade pieces of clothing, accessories, jewelry, and even a couple of costumes. Before the show, works by several artists were for sale in our shopping area.
Thanks to all of those individuals who helped make Art on the Runway a success! The show was great, and we couldn't have done it without all of our staff, volunteers, models, vendors and artists.
It was truly a wonderful, fun, fashion-filled event!
Take a look at the article and photos featured on the Saline Post here. Enjoy!

Yesterday's Art Escape Class was Himmeli Wreath, taught by Christy Howden. In this class, students created airy modern geometric wreaths based on the Swedish Himmeli. Their wreaths can be displayed year round, and the technique students learned can be applied to ornaments or mobiles in the same style. Check out this unique class!

This week we had two Landscape Series class offerings. On Tuesday, Val Mann taught Landscape Inspired by Canadian Painters. Students focused on a group of Canadian painters who worked at the end of the 1800s and early 1900s. Their depictions of the wild Canadian landscape were in contrast to the majority of landscape paintings being done at the time. Students were encouraged to 'see the light' within their landscapes as they painted. Take a look at their fantastic outcomes!
On Wednesday, Jean Canavan taught Wolf Kahn Inspired Landscape. Using contemporary painter Wolf Kahn as inspiration, students learned the basics of color relationships and composition while creating a painting of the landscape of their choice. The unique color palettes really make these paintings pop! Take a look below.
The Landscape Series classes are inspiration for our Landscape Series Show this November. Students are encouraged to submit their work for the show, or take the classes for inspiration. Rob Kinsey's Dreamscapes class is the final class in the Landscape Series. Dreamscapes will be held Wednesday, October 8, from 6:30-8:30pm or Wednesday, November 5, from 6:30-8:30pm. Call us at (734)944-ARTS to register.
