As I've mentioned previously, one of our new offerings this year is the Self Portraiture Series. All summer long, students have been enjoying creating their very own self portraits in a variety of mediums and themes.
One of the first classes of the series was Self Portrait Simplified, taught by Jean Canavan. As this post shows, students channeled modern masters like Picasso and Modigliani, and used a simplified approach to realism to create their own self portrait in acrylic. The class was so popular that Jean decided to offer it a second time! Check out the photos from the second class below.
Remember to look out for a lot of these self portraits, as well as other works inspired by this class series, in our November Self Portrait Show at Two Twelve Arts Center.
