Art Escape: Mermaid Woven Paper Collage

Our Art Escape offering this Tuesday was Mermaid Woven Paper Collage taught by Holly Losee. In this class, students enjoyed weaving a variety of beautiful handmade papers together to create a lovely mermaid, ready for framing. Students had fun combining the colorful papers, and though all of the mermaids began with a similar sea-inspired background, each completed mermaid turned out differently and all were unique.

Check out these photos of Holly's students, busy cutting, gluing and playing with color combos.

Coming Soon: Landscape Oil Painting Workshop by Karen Blackwood

It's not too late to sign up for Painting the Landscape in Oils, a Studio Workshop by Karen Blackwood at Two Twelve Arts Center. This two-day workshop is being held Friday, April 20, through Saturday, April 21, from 10am to 4pm.

Karen's landscape paintings have been included in national art magazines and her work is represented by galleries in Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
Blackwood's landscapes focus on the light and atmosphere to convey an emotional response to the scene. She will discuss how to see and convey light as well as shape, value, color, composition, scene selection and the basics of handling the paint medium. This is a limited palette oil painting workshop although those more comfortable in acrylics are also welcome.
Each artist will develop at their own pace and attention will be on a personal basis.
