Springtime Art

This Tuesday, our Art Escape offering was Watercolor Flower, taught by Keith McGuire. The students learned the techniques behind painting tulips, each leaving with a beautiful Spring watercolor. Look at these hard-working students and their instructor, Keith. A lot can be created in just a few hours!

Our Button Challenge Winners

Congratulations to the winners of the Button Challenge! The winners were determined by a people's choice voting process, and we were very happy to announce them at Cake Eaters on Friday.

First Place went to Helen Martin, for her beautiful necklace made from vintage buttons that belonged to her mother.

Second Place was awarded to Karen Losey, for her felted purse, embellished with buttons and stitching.

And an Honorable Mention was awarded to Susie Karr, for her beautiful marriage of words and fiber. Susie's quilt was inspired by a unique and touching story she wrote about her life, her mother, and their shared love of sewing.

We are so lucky to have so many talented artists at Two Twelve. Thanks to everyone who submitted a piece. All of the Button Challenge pieces will be on display at the Saline District Library for the months of April and May.

The Button Challenge

It all started a few months ago, when Two Twelve Arts Center received a VERY generous donation of buttons. Almost 100 pounds of buttons to be exact! Almost immediately, the idea for a button-inspired art challenge came up. During one of our Friday Cake Eaters meetings, artists had the opportunity to dig and sort through the pounds and pounds of buttons that could be used to create a work of art for the challenge.

This past Friday, the Button Challenges were submitted and they are now on display at Two Twelve. The winner will be determined by a People's Choice voting system. So stop in this month and vote for your favorite piece of button art!

Here's a look at the artists with their Button Challenge pieces...

Come visit us at Two Twelve to get a closer look and vote for your favorite. Stay tuned for a post at the end of the month announcing the winner.
